Finished Graham Greene’s Heart of the Matter today. The usual Catholic, adultery, moral or immoral, guilt and responsible stuff set in a far off, hot sweaty land. And as usual, very well written. Read with the Prosser in mind.
Last week JM Coetzee’s Disgrace, Booker (not Boker) Prize winner and excellent stuff was completed. Caused alot of contraversy in his homeland as it dealt with the racial undertones of modern South Africa and hastened his move from the University of Cape Town to Australia, that bastion of tolerance and understanding, the country of LP and the country he rightly criticised for allowing a women like Pauline””please explain” Hanson to become a celebrity on Come Dancing with the Stars.
Milan Kundera’s The Unbeareable Lighness of Being will be consumed over the next few days and I post a book review of 2005 soon. A great year for books for me.
