Been away for a while. Busy and with no access to the internet. Life is treating me pretty well right now. The summer on which I will write later is shaping up to be one of my best yet. Really can’t wait.
Poland has been welcoming so far. I am scrambling around with the language with is possible while keeping on track with everything else. My only gripe is having no one like Christine to laugh through it. That said, Warsaw (where I am right now) is only 1hr 30mins away so hey no worries. Even the weather has turned.
Work consist of endless meeting, sitting around having a chat and learning about the oil industry. Apart from ID card taking forever to turn up, work have got me a phone, a free apartment and a free monthly bus ticket. The supermarket and gym are within 10 mins walk and work is a 20 minute reading bus journey.
The summer looks glorious. Travel through the Baltics, Helsinki, St. Petersburg and Moscow, followed by Kiev and maybe Serbia. Then off to the Czech Rep to join Nathan’s band on tour and a flight to Newquay for Steve’s stag do. Hopefully I will get to see Charlotte with her little bundle before I charge up to Steve’s wedding via the folks) where I am an usher and will have a long-awaited meet-up with Emma D after a mere 8 years! Then its up North to see Scotty and Sarah and across to Manchester to see Si. After all that, I’ll be broke again!
My only misses will be Dan W and Ben & Eloide. But we will meet again! Anyway rugby, Ireland v England is about to start! Gotta run! Take care…x
BOY dad Alfie Patten yesterday admitted he does not know how much nappies cost — but said: “I think it’s a lot.”
Baby-faced Alfie, who is 13 but looks more like eight, became a father four days ago when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to 7lb 3oz Maisie Roxanne.
>Arrived in Poland. Flight got redirected to Wroclaw due to bad weather and I decided to stay the weekend there. Great weekend too apart from the 5am fight with a 70 year old woman who I think was trying to rob me. I was so drunk I forgot half way through what the hell was happening. I just remember her alternatively trying to grab at my pockets and when I defended that, she attempted to strangle me with my scarf, all the while her husband sat on the bench grumbling. Had been out with 4 Spanish lads from Andalucia. Good fun.
Next day I got hammered with some Scottish boys who loved the UFC. Sadly they had only seen the last 5 so I took them under my wing and re-educated them into the world of Nog and Pride. I got abit nostalgic and had a few tears in my eyes.
Sunday I took 4 trains to get to the town I am working in. A boss met me and drove me to my apartment. Company apartment so has cable and the internet. Nice and warm too. Apart from that, I have had 2 intro meetings and will head to Warsaw this weekend.
Some general points
The women are stunning and the beer is cheap, strong and tasty. Lovin it. Proper work starts next week.
> Excuse me I gotta go
Can’t stand to be here anymore, no
I’m sick and I gotta go to bed
If I stay here I’m better off dead.
Shit changes rapidly eh! I’ll get it down asap.
>Seminal novel written in the 1960s of Christianity ‘modernising’ and controlling Africa for their own benefit. Economically written and excellent read.
